About Mary

I love what I do and bring my best energy and creative talents to this work. My ceremonies are of the highest quality, delivered with warmth and grace. You will find me easy and fun to work with as well as professional, organized, and focused on your needs.

When creating your wedding ceremony, I consider how things look, sound, and feel. My education and training in the visual arts and theater serves me extremely well in this regard.

In college, I studied English and Art, a perfect combination for someone who loves words and images and exploring the relationship between the two. I received a BFA from the University of Texas at Austin then earned an MFA in Painting from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

In 1987, I landed in NYC with my cat and an electric typewriter and learned what the city could teach me over the next 18 years.  I made my living in NYC as a college administrator at Parsons School of Design, trained as an actor and worked steadily in the theater for many years. I am a member of the professional unions: Actors’ Equity Association and the American Federation of Television and Radio Artists.

Still keeping one foot in NYC, I currently live in Connecticut and love living within the cycles of distinct seasons, sharing my home in the woods with my husband, many four-legged and winged critters and enjoying friendships with the good people in my community.

I am happy to travel for weddings, to all areas of Connecticut, as well as western Rhode Island and southern Massachusetts. Contact me and let’s talk about your upcoming wedding!
